Wiring : An Interlude - DBS TIFR AWS On Adult Neurogenesis
Epigenetic mechanisms speculated in neurological stress response in maternal separation paradigm of mice neurobiology model.
From the abstract of Weaver et al Aug 2004, Nat. Neuro. Vol 7 No.8
"Here we report that increased pup licking and grooming (LG) and arched-back nursing (ABN) by rat mothers altered the offspring epigenome at a glucocorticoid receptor (GR) gene promoter in the hippocampus.... .......we show that an epigenomic state of a gene can be established through behavioral programming, and it is potentially reversible."
It is a nice enough paper in terms of experiments...but what it says about the role of epigenetics in behavior is the more interesting thing about this paper :)
